“Uptime” is the most successful and proven of maintenance improvement strategies. It is in use around the world in companies of all sizes and in all industries. Since the 2nd edition of Uptime was published in 2006 we’ve used it as the starting point for our client improvement strategies. We teach our clients about successful / best practices and then they choose what to do first. This works incredibly well. If anything “bad” can be said for this training it’s that you may have to hold people back from making too many positive changes too quickly. Here’s what we got from a course delegate (a manager responsible maintenance):
“Thanks Jim
To date we have implemented scheduling. Planning still to be implemented.
We are posting daily schedules. We went a little high tech, it is on a t.v. monitor.
We will be dealing with Work Identification in the next month and more with planning.
We have the daily go to on call guy so we don’t keep pulling guys from their work. We will be dealing with Inventory soon but we know that will take some time.
I think we have already paid for our training and we have just touched on Work Management.”
That’s a nice problem to have, especially in today’s business environment where we often struggle with motivating people.
Our Uptime programs are aimed at helping companies to define that improvement path most appropriate for them and to get that start.
