Reliability and Maintenance Business Case Estimator

This online toolset allows the user to perform a quick self-assessment of maturity in maintenance and reliability revealing how efficiently and effectively their current programs are performing. In the second section of this tool, the user inputs financial and operational data to be used in calculating the cost savings, revenue and profitability improvements, and improvements to working capital efficiencies, if improvements are made.

The toolset also produces a qualitative evaluation of trouble areas that the user may be experiencing. It’s a simple form of Artificial Intelligence that builds on our years of experience with hundreds of customers making these improvements. While the tools cannot tell the user exactly what to do to improve the present situation, nor how to do it, it does give a directional sense of where improvements are needed.

This toolset is a practical accompaniment to our book, Paying Your Way, which we recommend as a reference for use with this toolset.

About the instructors

James Reyes-Picknell is the author of "Uptime - Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management" (2015), “Reliability Centered Maintenance – Reengineered” (2017), and “Paying Your Way” (2020). He is a Mechanical Engineer (University of Toronto 1977) with over 43 years working in Reliability, Maintenance and Asset Management. James is widely regarded as a subject matter expert in ensuring the delivery of value from physical assets. His experience spans a wide range of industries, mostly in the private sector, many in natural resources, all dependent on physical assets for their success. James’ career includes naval service (Canada), petrochemicals, aerospace, shipbuilding, pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, gas and electric utilities, project management, software implementation, management consulting and training delivery. James is a professional engineer (PEng), certified management consultant (CMC), maintenance management professional (MMP), certified asset management assessor (CAMA) and certified blockchain professional (CBPro). He is the 2016 recipient of Canada’s prestigious Serio Guy Award for outstanding contributions to the profession.
