Reliability is key to success in maintenance and asset management. Without reliable assets you simply can not deliver full equipment and system capacity. Production, throughput and/or delivery of services is reduced, risks of safety incidents and environmental non-compliance are up, revenue is below what you could otherwise be generating, and operating costs will be higher than they need to be.
Reliability is designed into your assets but it is not achieved unless you do the right maintenance, the right way, at the right time and with the right people. Achieving improvements in reliability performance requires an understanding of some technical basics.
