Reliability Centered Maintenance – Re-Engineered RCM-R
Reliability Centered Maintenance Re-Engineered (RCM-R) is about value.
The right maintenance program is not only less expensive, it delivers far greater asset availability, safely!
Reliability Centered Maintenance – Re-Engineered
Is it needed?
In practical terms, “Reliability”, means keeping your systems operating at desired performance levels, without breakdowns. Reliability management is all about minimizing the frequency of unwanted downtime incidents. Those incidents (failures) have consequences to your business and sometimes also to safety, the environment and levels of risk to which you are exposed.
You need reliability. RCM-R is the best way to achieve it.
If your maintenance programs are not delivering the results you want:
- Costs are too high.
- Availability of your physical assets is below expectations.
- You have too many unexpected failures.
- There are too many safety or environmental incidents.
- Output quality is inconsistent and there’s too much waste.
- Breakdowns are happening at, or shortly after startup from shutdowns.
Reliability Centered Maintenance – Re-Engineered, RCM-R, is an enhanced version of the RCM method described in Standard SAE JA-1011. It provides for linking with established international standards used for reliability data and risk management.
Flexibility
Our training and delivery methods are flexible and well suited to any industrial environment, schedule and staffing.
Experience
We have been working with RCM since the 1980’s, just after it was conceived, and even before its first books were published. Our experience spans decades, continents, several languages and cultures, as well as several competing commercial methods.

“Conscious Asset taught us how to use RCM-R while we carried out an analysis on a safety-critical system. We alternated classes with practical project applications. That approach put what we were learning to immediate use. It really helped us to understand both the method and the system we were analyzing. When completed, we had learned a lot and gained confidence with RCM-R as well as our own system. We identified a number of previously missing actions that need to be taken with the system. We got way more than just a course – we got a usable result and now we feel a lot safer for it!”

We use a specialized spreadsheet, with built in logic, for the analyses that we facilitate. Our clients get that spreadsheet and completed analysis at the end of each RCM-R project.
We are partners in Conscious Reliability and can provide our dedicated RCM-R software package, RCMR2GO.
We help you get started with RCM-R with training, pilot projects, analysis facilitation, and mentoring of your facilitators.
Our RCM-R certification program blends training with practical experience to produce competent analysts, facilitators, and high quality analyses that are immediately useful.
